Top Student Broadband Deals 2021

Welcome to The Student Saviour Broadband Guide 2021. Here you’ll find all the best student broadband deals available right now. This is the most comprehensive comparison of 12 month, 9 month & monthly rolling student broadband deals in the UK – including exclusive deals you can’t find elsewhere! Check out our top picks, or scroll through to find the right offer for you!

Top Tips

  • Don’t trap yourself in anything longer than a 12 month contract. We have included longer contracts at the bottom in case you want to check them out, but we generally advise against getting one as a student.

  • Order in advance. Let’s face it, students leave everything to the last minute. That means every August/September more than a million students are ordering their broadband. Installation dates often get pushed back by weeks, and in some cases, months. If you know when you’re moving in, you can book now and choose a start date in the future. You’ll only start paying from the date you choose, and you can make sure it will actually be ready for you when you move in!

What Download Speed Do I Need?

These days Fibre is pretty much a necessity. The general rule is – faster the better. That said, if you live in a house of 3 people and only use broadband to surf social media, there’s no point wasting money on 500Mbps fibre. You also don’t want your Netflix to freeze every 5 minutes, so it is a balancing act between cost and speed. In an average student house you can get by on 60+Mbps, with 100Mbps+ being optimal. If you stream a lot of TV, play a lot of computer games, or have 5+ people in your house you may want to consider a faster speed.

Important: The download speeds that broadband providers advertise are the average speed, and at peak times they can halve. With this in mind, if the price difference is a few quid a month, it’s probably worth boosting your speed.
